Carbon dioxide levels on earth are going off charts as the levels are breaking records of all time. The levels of carbon dioxide have crossed 415 parts per million on Friday. Eric Holthaus, who is a meteorologist at grist, recently tweeted, “We don’t know a planet like this, this is the first time in human history our planet’s atmosphere has had more than 415ppm CO2, Not just in recorded history, not just since the invention of agriculture 10,000 years ago. Since before modern humans existed millions of years ago.” He also conveyed that it is never seen in the last 800,000 years as per the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California – San Diego show.

The homo sapiens did not evolve until 300,000 years ago, and Co2 levels were high millions of years ago but and it touched the level of 300ppm, but the record has been broken in 2019 due to the recorded level which is 415ppm. Co2 is said to be responsible for the climate change and it is also a greenhouse gas. The Co2 emitted by fuels like coals, oil and gas traps the solar radiation in the atmosphere which is the reason behind the climate change. And this time, the humans are the ones to blame behind the rising warming of the Earth’s atmosphere.

As per the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the recent rise in the temperature is because of the natural factors but in the last 20 years, it is found that the world’s temperature has risen by two-thirds of a degree Fahrenheit. Ralph Keeling, the director of the Scripps program that tracks CO2 concentrations said in a statement, “the average growth rate is remaining on the high end. The increase from last year will probably be around three parts per million whereas the recent average has been 2.5 ppm.”
