The United States is that country which comes in the list of most polluted countries and the act which was introduced decades ago helped the country a lot to clean out the air. Air pollution was the reason that many of the children in the states were diagnosed with asthma but according to the new study it is found that the asthma cases among the children of California have dropped because of the better air quality. The study which was published in the journal of the American Medical Association JAMA showed that over the past 20 years, the air quality of South California has become better due to the rules over limit pollution from vehicles.
Erika Garcia who is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Southern Californian conveyed, “We know there have been reductions in air pollution. Let’s see if concurrently there are improvements in health outcomes during that same time period.” Scientists have been researching and keeping an eye on the people of 1w different communities periodically as they study three time periods which were 1993-2001, 1996-2004 and 2006-2014. Gracia conveyed, “Some communities declined a little bit. Some communities declined a lot. Some communities didn’t decline at all.” Gracia had a doubt whether the effect of the better air quality will result in minimizing the asthma cases and as the study shows, the air qualities of the different area have improved differently.
The use of better fuel and less usage of the fuel has resulted in less emission of nitrogen dioxide, which is an indicator of tailpipe emissions, and fine particles. According to the USC scientists, it is revealed that there has been a decline of 20 percent in the last 20 years regarding the emission of the harmful pollutants. Garcia said, “This corresponded with about a 20 percent decline in the rate of new asthma cases in children. It’s fairly substantial.”
