The climate change is affecting our earth on a big level as seeing our planet getting hurt on such a big level is heartbreaking as well it is dangerous for all of us. The rising emission of the greenhouse gasses which are leading to the rise of the temperature as the air pollution causing health problems to the citizen of the earth is just increasing day by day. The emission of methane is increasing on a big level in Paris which may affect the goals set by the Paris climate agreement.
According to the new study by the researchers from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), said that the increasing amount of gas emission is coming from the tropics. The scientists are not yet clear about the reason behind the rising emission of the methane gas as Euan Nisbet, professor of earth sciences at the Royal Holloway University of London, told the Financial Times, “Methane’s unexpected rise is a major challenge to the Paris agreement and we don’t know why it’s happening, he added, It looks very much as if the warming is feeding the warming, but exactly how is a major puzzle.” If we look at the numbers, Methane is the second largest reason because of which global warming is rising as methane after carbon dioxide. It has a caliber to trap heat by 28 times for more than 100 years.
According to the researchers, the amount of methane which is being released in the atmosphere has increased by 50 percent between the years 2013 and 2018. Professor Grant Allen, an atmospheric physicist from the University of Manchester who has been working on the Global Methane Budget project, told The Independent, “Since 2006 methane concentrations in the atmosphere have been rising and not only rising but accelerating. All of the atmospheric models that try and explain where those extra emissions come from have been pointing us towards the tropics. We never had measurements there until recently.”
