As we all know that NASA is open for the business to send tourists to the International Space Station from next year. The agency is charging $50 million for the visit to ISS. If you are wealthy enough to spare $50 million for a ride to ISS you can possibly make it happen. NASA will be sending only two mission each year and the reason behind opening the doors of International Space Station is due to the lack of funds. NASA is planning to send humans to the Moon by 2024 and to fulfill their funds, NASA has opened the International Space Station for tourists and business ventures.
Every mission will be of 30 days span and the private organizations SpaceX and Boeing will be sending their capsules with the tourists and those companies will be responsible for the services. NASA chief financial officer Jeff DeWit said in an announcement at the Nasdaq stock exchange in New York, “NASA is opening the International Space Station to commercial opportunities and marketing these opportunities as we’ve never done before.” Every private mission will cost $50 million each and there will be only two astronauts and they will visit there for 30 days. For every night that will be spent on ISS, NASA will be costing $35,000 from the astronauts.
“The agency’s ultimate goal in low-Earth orbit is to partner with industry to achieve a strong ecosystem in which NASA is one of many customers purchasing services and capabilities at a lower cost,” NASA explained in a press release. “NASA’s plan addresses both the supply-side and demand-side for a new economy, enabling use of government resources for commercial activities, creating the opportunity for private astronaut missions to the space station, enabling commercial destinations in low-Earth orbit, identifying and pursuing activities that foster new and emerging markets, and quantifying NASA’s long-term demand for activities in low-Earth orbit.”
