Seems like our universe is not as old as we have been told. Well, we all mess up sometimes because we are humans and so do the astronomers as they are human too for sure. According to the recent studies conducted by the team of astronomers, seems like our universe is more than a billion years younger as we have been living a lie all this time.
The new studies forced the researchers to reanalyze the part when the universe was created. Well as we all know that our whole universe is full of mysteries unsolved especially the age of the universe because by 2013, according to the European Planck space telescope, the studies, and researches that were made by measuring the amount of cosmic radiation in the universe gave to prove that our universe is 13.8 billion years old.
Now, it was time to verify the numbers and data that we got from the research back in 2013 by observing the bright stars in our galaxies. Then there comes the time when different teams including a team led by Nobel prize winner Adam Riess of the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, started their own observations and came to another conclusion which is totally different than the Planck’s measurements.
Riess, co-author of a new paper about the research to be published in Astrophysical Journal, conveyed, “It was getting to the point where we say, ‘Wait for a second, we’re not passing this test — we’re failing the test.” According to Riess’ observations and research, the universe is 12.5 billion years old instead of 13.8 billion years. At first, Riess and other researchers thought it was a huge mistake and when they went deeper into the research it turned out to be fine. Riess said, “The discrepancy suggests that there’s something in the cosmological model that we’re not understanding right.”
